Fired using the saggar method of coating wares in copper, cobalt, and iron oxides and enclosing them in a wrap such as aluminum foil so that the direct contact creates unique marks and burns. Double firing is unique in that it consists of an additional application of raku firing where horse hair and other elements are laid across the piece immediately after it is taken from the kiln, so that they burn and leave unique scorch marks on the surface.
